JERICHO, Vt. -
The end of this year's rifle deer season is in sight. The season began November tenth and ends Sunday.
Employees at the Jericho General Store, which is one of several reporting sites across the state, say they only had a few hunters today bringing in their prized deer. Richmond resident Sean Hamel, shot in an eleven-pointer.
"It actually is by far, antler-wise, the biggest deer I've ever got and he's going on the wall, it means a lot to me." said Hamel.
Biologists say there are more than 125-thousand deer in the woods this year. In 2011 officials reported low Vermont numbers, primarily because of weather conditions. Muzzleloader and Archery season begins December first and runs through the ninth.
