BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Dozens of volunteers are resting their voices and fingers after placing phone calls for the less-fortunate.
More than 200 volunteers are signed up to man phone banks on behalf of Burlington's Committee on Temporary Shelter over the next couple of weeks. The goal is to raise $200,000 for the homeless service agency.
Caller and board member Tom Torti says it's a worthwhile way to spend a spare night.
"Over these next few nights we will raise all the money that COTS uses during the winter months, this is a very important fund drive, it's our largest fundraiser," said board member Tom Torti.
COTS will reach its 30-year anniversary on Christmas Eve this year.
The phonathon ends December 4th.
