BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - A Vermont man who once worked as the chief auditor at Dartmouth College is going to spend 18 months in federal prison for his conviction of stealing more than $800,000 over 25 years from several nonprofit groups in the White River Junction area.
Bruce McAllister, 79, of Thetford, was sentenced Monday in federal court in Burlington.
Prosecutors say some of the groups McAllister stole from included Dartmouth's Alpha Theta House and a private trout club in Bridgewater.
The Burlington Free Press reports McAllister pleaded guilty in April. The thefts ran from at least 1985 to 2010.
McAllister was ordered to pay restitution of $607,000 to the New Hampshire fraternity and $194,000 to the trout club.
McAllister is a 1954 Dartmouth graduate who oversaw the audit office until he retired.
