Parents trying to reach South Burlington schools by phone Tuesday morning were having trouble. Phone lines across the district were down from about 9-11:45 a.m. The problem also extended to the district offices on Dorset Street.
Right now it is unclear what was behind the outages.
"It's a concern. We want to make sure we can communicate both internally and externally, making calls and receiving calls, so we are always concerned about good communications opportunities," said David Young, the superintendent of South Burlington schools.
Young says the problem lasted longer than expected.
He is reminding parents that email is also an effective tool to reach a specific school during the school day.
