VEC won't seek rate increase

JOHNSON, Vt. -

Electric rates for some Vermonters will remain steady this winter. Vermont Electric Cooperative says it won't seek a rate increase in January.

The co-op says it has been able to offset rising transmission costs through operational efficiencies and by obtaining favorable power supply contracts.

VEC serves more than 32,000 members in 74 towns. It has not had a rate increase since January of 2011.
