NASHUA, N.H. -
It's being called the information interstate for hospitals, and starting next week, it's going live.
The New England Telehealth Consortium could connect more than 400 hospitals throughout Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine. It is launching thanks to a $24 million FCC grant.
The goal is to link hospitals with superfast-speed data connections allowing everything from the electronic exchange of medical records to remote-control surgery.
The Nashua Telegraph reports the joining hospitals haven't been announced, but it is open to places as large as Dartmouth-Hitchcock and as small as remote, one-doctor clinics.
