MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Parents can now get a passport for their kids that lets them ski free at Vermont resorts all winter.
Now in its 12th year, the Ski Vermont Fifth Grade Passport program allows all fifth-graders to ski for free at most major resorts across the state.
Ski Vermont says it's the way to keep the sport growing with the next generation. New this year-- you can download the application online.
"We wanted to get kids excited about going out and skiing -- get them interested in a lifelong sport early on, and this was a great way to do it," says Sarah Neith with Ski Vermont.
There is a $10 application fee, and any proceeds go to help support local dairy farmers.
All fifth-graders using a passport to ski need to be accompanied by an adult who buys a lift ticket.
The passport is now available online at www.skivermont.com/FGP.
