Illuzzi may lobby for VSEA

Posted: Updated:
MONTPELIER, Vt. -

He spent more than 30 years at the Vt. Statehouse representing the Northeast Kingdom and it looks like he may be going back-- but not as a senator, as a lobbyist instead.

Sen. Vince Illuzzi gave up his Senate seat to run for Vt. auditor. He lost to Democrat Doug Hoffer.

WCAX News has learned that Illuzzi is now in talks with the Vermont State Employees Association to be a contracted lobbyist for the union.

Originally that job was expected to be filled by Cass Gekas, who ran unsuccessfully for lieutenant governor. That is no longer the case.

Illuzzi and the VSEA are still in negotiations. Illuzzi would still be able to keep his part-time elected job as Essex County state's attorney.
