HIGHGATE, Vt. -
An off-duty Vermont state trooper was forced off the road Wednesday night by an oncoming car that took off.
The trooper and his family ended up rolling three times off Route 207 in Highgate.
Police say the family tried to avoid a car in their lane, swerved, and lost control. The driver of the other car didn't stop and has not been found. All four people in the trooper's vehicle were in seatbelts or child safety seats and were not hurt.
Police say slick roads may have also played a role in the crash.
