BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Kicking off the countdown to Christmas with a band of tubas.
Family, friends, and church street shoppers gathered Saturday to see the brass section perform a Tuba-Christmas concert. Tuba-Christmas events have played all over the world. The first started in New York at Rockefeller Center in 1974. Today -- more than 20 tuba players geared up in holiday hats and bellowed out classic Christmas tunes.
"I like coming out here just around Christmastime to walk around and see all the lights and trees and hear the music playing," said Cianya Barbosa, whose Grandfather plays in the band.
"It's cool because it doesn't matter how big or small the tuba is they just let all tubas play in it."
The brass group ranged in age from 9 to 70-years-old.
