Arrest in Lake Placid ATM case

LAKE PLACID, N.Y. -

An arrest in connection with an attempt to break into a Lake Placid ATM machine.

Police say 21-year old Brandon Crandall and 24 Joseph Lugo tried to use a blow torch and crow bar to get into an NBT Bank ATM in Lake Placid last month. They destroyed the machine but were unable to get in according to the Plattsburgh Press-Reprublian A week later the two broke into a Canton bookstore and took an ATM containing 17-thousand with them. Crandall was arrested last week but police are still searching for Lugo.
