MONTPELIER, Vt. -
Starting today, some cellphone users can now send a text message to 9-1-1 in Vermont for emergency help.
Right now, the program is kicking-off a four month trial only available to Sprint customers. Officials say this is the next step in testing the technology, after the first trial with Verizon earlier in the year.
Advocates say this is especially important for deaf Vermonters and others who can't make a regular phone calls.
