COLCHESTER, Vt. -
A Colchester summer camp is still assessing the damage after a massive fire.
Nine cabins at Camp Brown Ledge burned to the ground Sunday and another was damaged, causing more than $300,000 in damage. Two teen boys accidentally started the blaze while playing with flares and matches and went to police and confessed.
"Anytime somebody comes forward and admits their mistakes it shows a lot. Those individuals had no intent on causing this fire, we took that into account," said Colchester Police Det. Mark Jacobs.
Police say the teens will go before the town's reparative board rather than face a judge. Owners of the camp support that decision. Brown Ledge expects to make repairs by the June.
