RUTLAND, Vt. -

A veteran Rutland police officer is suspended with pay and now faces a criminal investigation.

Rutland Police Chief Jim Baker requested the state police open an investigation into Officer Thomas Fuller. The 26-year veteran of the force had an altercation with someone at the Rutland Regional Medical Center on Saturday while on duty.

Police did not release any other details about what happened -- except to say the incident does not involve anyone who was in custody.
