Georgia Mountain wind project to pay $20K in penalties

MILTON, Vt. -

The developers of the Georgia Mountain wind project in Milton have been ordered to pay $20,000 in fines.

Georgia Mountain Community Wind will pay a $10,000 fine and give an additional $10,000 to a private remediation fund for violating its blasting permit, twice failing to notify neighbors of blasting and also blasting on a state holiday.

The Burlington Free Press reports the Public Safety Board accepted the negotiated settlement, but indicated they may have considered imposing more severe penalties.
