RUTLAND, Vt. -
The General Electric plant in Rutland has won a new military contract.
The Rutland facility makes jet engine parts, including those for the Navy's FA-18 Super Hornet fighter. The Navy has placed an order for the development and construction of 52 new engines. The total contract is worth nearly $200 million spread out over several GE plants. The Rutland facility gets about $24 million of that.
The Rutland plant has about 1,000 employees.
