MONTPELIER, Vt. -

Superstorm Sandy could help Vermont recover from Tropical Storm Irene.

Last month, Sandy ravaged the shoreline in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. New York alone is asking for $42 billion in FEMA recovery funds. Meanwhile, Vermont is still trying to get FEMA money for Irene damage.

Vermont Administration Secretary Jeb Spaulding says our Congressional delegation is trying to include Irene recovery in a request for Sandy relief.

"This would be bigger than just the state hospital or Waterbury redevelopment. We're talking about as we deal with debris issues, or culverts and bridges, home buyouts, anywhere where we're having some difficulty when there are policy issues in play that might be able to be resolved in a legislative fashion," Vt. Administration Secretary Jeb Spaulding said.

Spaulding says while the state has high hopes, nothing is definite yet. He also points out that this request would be in addition to other efforts to get money from FEMA for Irene.
