BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Police and the Vt. Department of Children and Families are warning Vermonters of imposters.
There have been several reports of people going to homes in Vermont claiming to be with the Department of Children and Families or Human Services. They tell the homeowner they're investigating reports of child abuse. That's not true. And the people involved don't work for the state.
Karen Shea from the Vt. Department of Children and Families talked to Darren Perron about these troubling incidents. Watch the video for more.
Authorities say if someone you don't know comes to your door and says they're from DCF-- ask for ID. If they want to take custody of your child, ask to see a court order. And even if they have ID and a court order, if you're still suspicious call 911.
