Growing the sport of softball and opening up young players to the possibilities of what they can achieve in life both on and off the field are the driving forces behind a group that's hosting a special clinic this weekend.
The folks behind Babe Ruth softball in Vermont have joined up with the St. Mike's softball team to host a clinic on Saturday at the St. Michael's Tarrant Rec facility in Colchester.
The clinic will feature two highly acclaimed softball players, former Olympic silver medalist Andrea Duran and Hillary Bach. Both were former college standouts who are now coaches in college and also play in the National Pro Fastpitch softball league.
The clinic is open to all players ages 10-18, whether they are associated with Babe Ruth softball or not. There will be two sessions, one for younger players, one for older, and they will be capped at eighty players per session.

Organizers say the number of players competing in softball in Vermont is dwindling and they hope events like these can light a spark in communities across the state.
