A former reporter and environmental advocate will become a top aide to Vermont Governor Peter Shumlin.
Louis Porter of Calais will join the governor's staff. He replaces Alex Maclean, who is leaving the governor's staff.
Porter currently works with the Conservation Law Foundation as the group's Lake Keeper. Before that job, Porter covered state politics in Montpelier with the Vermont Press Bureau. Recently, Porter has worked on environmental issues surrounding the cleanup of Lake Champlain.
