MONTPELIER, Vt. -
It's a holiday tradition: Vermont's Capitol is sparkling with lights and Christmas cheer. It's the lighting of the Capitol Christmas Tree.
This season, the tree comes from the birthplace of Vermont: Windsor. A striking 35 feet tall, the balsam fir was donated by the Veznia family. It stood proudly on their property for two decades before landing on the Capital steps.
Also making the trip from Windsor County-- the choir from the high school. Joining them in song were singers from Barre City, performing a selection just for this ceremony. Terry Frey composed "Vermont Was Made for Christmas."
It's a Vermont Christmas, made a bit brighter with a symbol of hope and peace standing tall at the Capitol.
