MONTPELIER, Vt. -
With deer hunting set to fully come to a close in Vermont this weekend, the preliminary numbers from this year's rifle season are in and are up slightly.
Fish and Wildlife says hunters harvested 4,087 deer during the November rifle season, with numbers still coming in. The average harvest is about 30 deer fewer than that.
Final tallies will happen once all the reporting is completed and reviewed at the end of the season, and a full report is released in March.
