Casella buys 2 more trash haulers

RUTLAND, Vt. -

One of Vermont's biggest companies is getting bigger. Rutland-based Casella Waste Systems is buying up two more trash hauling businesses.

This week, the company purchased Bestway Disposal Service and BBI Waste Industries. The group currently operates waste collection services in New Hampshire and Maine. In the last 12 months, BBI has generated roughly $20 million in revenue.

Casella plans to process the majority of the new waste at its existing facilities.
