MONTPELIER, Vt. -
The Vermont Labor Department is bracing for the end of emergency unemployment benefits for about 1,400 Vermonters.
Since it when into effect in 2008, the federal program has paid more than $246 million to nearly 30,000 jobless workers in Vermont.
The program was scaled back in September and it's set to end on December 29th. State officials say there is no indication it will be re-authorized.
