MONTPELIER, Vt. -
The family of a slain Vermont state trooper has been awarded a multimillion dollar settlement.
Sgt. Michael Johnson was killed nine years ago when he was run over as he attempted to setup a spike strip on Interstate 91 to stop a fleeing suspect.
The state of Vermont's insurance company has tentatively agreed to a multimillion dollar out-of-court settlement with Johnson's family. How much it is worth is not being disclosed.
The Vermont Supreme Court ruled in 2009 that Johnson's family could sue for as much as $11 million.
