Police: Vt. murderer plotted to kill Justin Bieber

A bizarre murder-for-hire plot involving pop star Justin Bieber and a convicted killer from Vermont.

Dana Martin is serving life in jail in New Mexico for killing a 15-year-old Vermont girl in 2000. He's allegedly the mastermind behind a plot to kill and castrate the teen superstar at a concert in New York.

Police say Martin recruited former inmate Mark Staake to kill two people in Vermont and Justin Bieber. Staake and his nephew, Tanner Ruane, who police say was also part of the plot, were arrested before anyone was hurt. The nephew had a pair of pruning shears police say were going to be used in the attack on Bieber.

Martin is described as obsessed with the pop star and reportedly has a tattoo of Bieber on his leg.
