Vermonters mark 12-12-12

Posted: Updated:
BURLINGTON, Vt. -

There are 12 months in a year, 12 signs of the Zodiac, 12 days of Christmas, 12 gods of Olympus. You get the point-- the number 12 constantly comes up. So, when the clock strikes 12:12:12 on the 12th day of the 12th month of 2012, it must mean something, right?

"It is a coincidence we'll never see again," said Pinky Clark of Montpelier.

"I really don't think anything of it at all. I think I've been writing 12/13 all day," said Wes Hamilton of Middlesex.

No matter what you think, it is the last major numerical date using the Gregorian calendar for nearly another century.

"I just love symmetry. I think it's fun, like 9, 9, 9, 10, 10, 10," said Cindra Conison of the Quirky Pet, a shop in Montpelier.

"Twelve is an interesting number in a lot of respects," said George Ashline, a mathematics professor at St. Michael's College in Colchester.

Ashline gets excited by many numbers, but especially 12.

"I like to see the patterns and I like symmetry, so it's a beautiful number today," Ashline said.

The date is also easy to remember. Lowering the risk of one couple in Rutland forgetting their wedding anniversary. They, along with around 7,500 other people in America, are tying the knot on 12-12-12.

And we can't forget about people celebrating their birthday.

Reporter Gina Bullard: What are you doing for your birthday?

Helen Davis: Having the tax accountant here and my son.

Helen Davis turned 90 on 12-12-12.

Gina Bullard: Does it make your birthday a little more special?

Helen Davis: No, not really.

"Numbers are everything," said Cindy Warwick Seiler of the Psychic Rainbow Institute.

Warwick Seiler says 2012 has been a big year for getting in touch with your body, soul and spirit. And on 12-12-12, I got a lesson in what Warwick Seiler called the healing power of crystals.

Cynthia Warwick Seiler: This one might be more grounding, maybe.

Gina Bullard: So, what does that mean?

Warwick Seiler: Ask yourself.

So, self, will 12-12-12 bring us good luck?

"Celebrate, allow yourself to have everything that is great," Warwick Seiler advised.

On a unique date we'll never witness again.
