Burlington parade raises money to prevent sexual violence

Posted: Updated:

People are already gearing up for Mardi Gras in Burlington. Every year in March, Magic Hat puts on a big parade downtown. Last year, there were a record number of floats-- 33. The event draws thousands and is also a fundraiser for HOPE Works, a group against sexual violence, that helps survivors and working on prevention.

Dani Gleason is with Magic Hat and organizes the Mardi Gras Parade. Cathleen Wilson is with HOPE Works, which used to be called the Women's Rape Crisis Center. They appeared on The :30 to tell us more. Watch the video for more.

The phone number for HOPE Works if you or someone you know needs help is 1-800-489-7273  -- www.hopeworksvt.org.
