We are continuing our tradition of Channel 3 Cheer. Zach Despart is a member of our morning production team and did a segment with his mom, Lisa. They taught us how to make their family Mac and Cheese. Watch the video for more.
Elsie Pratt's Baked Mac n Cheese
14.5 oz box cooked elbow macaroni
16 oz sliced & diced extra sharp cheddar
4.5 cup 2% milk
2 tsp butter
Salt & Pepper
Non stick cooking spray
Med size casserole dish- glass or ceramic works best (appx 2.5 qts)

Heat oven to 350
Spray casserole dish with Pam. Line bottom with appx 1/3 of cooked macaroni, sprinkle appx 1/3 of diced cheddar over macaroni, then salt & pepper. Repeat for two more layers. Cut butter into small pieces and scatter on top layer. Add milk slowly, by pouring into dish at edge . Only pour until it's just about even with top of macaroni (do not overfill- amount of milk needed can vary slightly depending upon dish used).
To avoid dripping in the oven, place casserole dish on a cookie sheet. Put in preheated oven, uncovered, for appx 45 minutes to 1 hr. Casserole is done when milk is absorbed. To check, using a spoon, slightly push macaroni away from edge of dish. If no milk is visible, Mac n Cheese is done. Let cool for 10 minutes before serving.
