A special panel looking at the fiscal woes facing Vermont's transportation system will meet Friday to discuss its recommendations on how to fix the problems.
Gasoline tax revenues are declining because less gas is being sold as a result of improved fuel economy for cars, more electric cars, and the increased use of alternative fuels.
But the state relies mainly on gas taxes to pay for road and bridge work, so the Legislature created a committee to find solutions for the funding gap.
