BURLINGTON, Vt. -
Burlington's elected officials will vote on a plan Monday that redraws the Queen City's political boundaries.
Following a 3-2 subcommittee vote, a plan calling for splitting Burlington's electorate into four sub-divisions with three councilors apiece will be in front of the council. Currently the city has seven wards, with two councilors each, but because of population shifts, those boundaries no longer conform with federal guidelines for equal representation between residents.
Plan sponsor and council chairwoman Joan Shannon said the measure will need to be approved by both the council and voters in March in order to take effect one year later.
