Enhanced IDs offered at Newport DMV

NEWPORT, Vt. -

Enhanced IDs are coming to Newport.

The Vermont Department of Motor Vehicles there will start offering the Enhanced ID Thursday. Enhanced IDs are driver's licenses that can be used as ID at the border in place of a passport.

Enhanced IDs are already available at the DMVs in Montpelier and South Burlington.

Vermont is one of only four states to offer the Enhanced ID.
