A Vermont woman will ride on a float in the upcoming Rose Parade in Pasadena, Calif., to help spread the word about the need for organ donations.
Kelly Luchini was chosen because her family decided to donate the organs of her brother, Michael, when he passed away unexpectedly 3 years ago. When the family learned about the donation process and considered Michael's caring nature toward others, they quickly concluded he would have wanted to donate. Less than 48 hours later, a match was found for Michael's kidney and they were able to save a woman's life.
Kelly Luchini will ride the float in the New Year's Day parade along with other relatives of deceased donors, as well as people who have lived because of organ donations.
