BURLINGTON, Vt. -
A Burlington church could turn into an emergency homeless shelter if the church agrees.
In a meeting last week, the city's development board ruled that a space at the North Avenue Alliance Church could be used as a shelter in the winter months.
If approved, the overflow shelter could host 32 prescreened individuals.
The church told WCAX Friday they have not yet made a decision on the matter, and a decision won't come until January after they meet with parents of preschoolers who use a day care at the building.
