According to experts, secondhand smoke is the third leading cause of preventable death in the U.S. and contains 69 chemicals known to cause cancer. It's safe to say, secondhand smoking is a danger to society. But one group hopes to make a difference starting at Burlington High School.
The prevention team is called Burlington Partnership for a Healthy Community, and they're launching a new campaign called Smoke Free Near Me.
Mariah Sanderson is the coalition coordinator of the group. Sequoia Ponzio-Young is a Burlington High School student actively involved in the group. They both appeared on The :30 to talk more about the topic. Watch the video for more.
