Morrisonville man struck & killed in Florida

A Morrisonville, New York man is dead after being hit by a car while on holiday in Florida.

The Plattsburgh Press Republican reports 66-year-old Bernard Tavernia was hit Saturday evening while crossing a highway in the town of Starke. He later died at the hospital.

Tavernia had just retired from working at the Clinton Correctional Facility and also coached basketball at a local church.

The driver was not injured and no tickets have been issued in the accident.
