SCHROON, N.Y. (AP) - State police say a 47-year-old upstate New York man has been charged with assault after he bit a trooper who had responded to a domestic dispute report at a home in the Adirondacks.
Officials tell The Post-Star of Glens Falls that troopers went to a home in the Essex County town of Schroon (skroon) around 8 p.m. Saturday for a complaint of domestic strife.
Police say 47-year-old Raymond Smith of Schroon Lake resisted efforts to take him into custody, and he bit 1 of the troopers in the leg. The injury wasn't serious, but Smith was charged with assault, along with resisting arrest, criminal mischief and obstructing governmental administration.
He's being held in the Essex County Jail for lack of bail. It couldn't be determined if he had a lawyer.
