Police ramp up DUI patrols

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Police throughout the state will be out in full force Monday night as revelers ring in the new year.

Local police departments and state troopers will increase patrols and conduct checkpoints, looking for drunk drivers.
     
Police are urging party-goers to use a designated driver and to beware of others on the roadway -- both drivers and pedestrians -- who may be under the influence.
