ST. JOHNSBURY, Vt. -
St. Johnsbury's fire department is hoping its insurance company will come through after it lost equipment fighting a huge fire last month.
Flames tore through this old building on Railroad Street in downtown St. Johnsbury just two days before Christmas.
The fire chief says they had to abandon hoses, tools, and a thermal imaging camera after a wall of fire trapped them. That camera alone cost $10,000.
It's not clear yet whether the gutted building, which was built in 1879, will have to be torn down or whether it can be saved.
