MORRISVILLE, Vt. -
The state's newest psychiatric facility opens its doors Wednesday.
Green Mountain Psychiatric Care Center will start receiving patients.
The center is housed in a former nursing home that Lamoille County Mental Health had operated as a day-use facility.
It took the state $1.8 million dollars to remodel the building. It's part of the state's efforts to reorganize the mental health system after Tropical Storm Irene flooded the Vermont State Hospital in Waterbury back in 2011 and forced it to close.
