One nonprofit program is bringing music composition into the lives of children. It's called Music-COMP which is short for Music Composition Online Mentoring Program.
When the project first started in 1995, composition wasn't being taught in school districts. Now students in the program are writing and performing their own pieces.
Sandy MacLeod is the executive director of the project. Alex Wick is a fourth-grader at Champlain Elementary School and the youngest member of the group. They both appeared on The :30 to tell us more about the program. Watch the video for more.
