PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. -
As the Battle of Plattsburgh nears its bicentennial, an upstate group has tapped a nationally renowned artist to help commemorate the occasion.
The Battle at Plattsburgh Association is campaigning to raise $100,000 for a mural to be painted by Dean Mosher, a New York native known for his works hanging in places such as the U.S. Naval and Coast Guard Academies and SUNY Plattsburgh's Art Museum.
The 200-year anniversary of the battle will happen on September 11, 2014.
