Christmas tree pick up

Posted: Updated:
WILLISTON, Vt. -

Williston boy scouts from Troop 692 went door to door to pick up Christmas trees for a donation. Volunteers loaded trees and dropped them off at the Chittenden Solid Waste District. The trees will be burned to woodchips in order to generate electricity. And although the scouts were giving up their Saturdays for a good cause, they say they had a good time doing it.

"We got to throw Christmas trees and then when we got to the drop off location, we'd throw them into a pile and jump on them. We could just dive right into them," said boy scout, Doug Schmidt.

Anyone can recycle a tree from now until January 31st. There are drop off locations around Chittenden County.
