GMP warns of phone scam

BURLINGTON, Vt. -

Green Mountain Power is warning customers about a phone scam.

Several businesses in the Rutland area say they're getting calls from someone claiming to be from Green Mountain Power. The caller tells the business owner to pay their account balance using their credit card or their power will be shut off that night.

This is a scam, if you've received a call like this, you're urged to call police.
