Wal-Mart coming to Derby?

DERBY, Vt. -

A new Wal-Mart with a pharmacy and grocery department could be coming to Derby.

According to outgoing Senator Vince Illuzzi, on Jan. 15, Gov. Peter Shumlin will be making the development announcement. Shumlin will be speaking at The Tavern on U.S. 5 in Derby across the road from the proposed Wal-Mart Super Center location. Illuzzi says it's time for a Wal-Mart in Orleans County after a feasibility study of building the store in downtown Newport City proved it inadequate for the retail giant.
