BURLINGTON, Vt. -
The IRS announced Tuesday that the tax filing season will be starting late.
Normally taxes can be submitted Jan. 1, but this year with the late fiscal cliff agreement processing will begin on Jan. 30 for individual income tax returns. The IRS will begin accepting tax returns on that date. The IRS says it needs that time to change forms and update systems to reflect the late tax law changes enacted Jan. 2.
For the fastest return, the IRS recommends filing electronically this year.
