MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont Lt. Gov. Phil Scott is asking lawmakers to keep the economic impacts of the bills they pass in mind.

During remarks in the Vermont Senate following his swearing in Thursday to a second 2-year term, the Republican lieutenant governor said Vermont continued to struggle to get revenues to match the need for government spending on programs.

Scott said one solution is promoting more economic growth, saying that's the way to boost revenues flowing into the state's coffers.

Scott said one-third of Vermonters ages 25 to 44 find they must leave the state to pursue opportunities elsewhere.
