Changes for Vt. Senate committees

MONTPELIER, Vt. -

More than half of the Vermont Senate committees are getting new chairs.

Of the 11 committees, six will have new senators leading them, including removing Sen. Virginia Lyons from her longtime post on the Natural Resources and Energy Committee and replacing her with Sen. Robert Hartwell.

The other committees involved in the shake-up include the Economic Development, Education, Agriculture, Finance and Institutions Committee.

The Senate's Committee on Committees announced the change Thursday.
