Work delayed on Brattleboro's Brooks House

BRATTLEBORO, Vt. (AP) - Work on rebuilding a 140-year-old building damaged by fire in Brattleboro, Vt., has been delayed because of financing issues.

The five-story Brooks House on Main Street was burned on April 17, 2011. It housed 10 businesses and about 60 people. Tropical Storm Irene also flooded the building.

The Brattleboro Reformer reports a group of investors in charge of restoring the building is still trying to get the financing together. The group had helped to close on the building at the end of last year, but now it is looking at later in the first quarter of this year.

The renovated building is expected to include apartments, an educational complex and businesses.
