BERLIN, Vt. -
A lottery winner in Vermont has stepped forward to claim the prize.
Irving Lawrence of Berlin bought his winning Mega Millions ticket at the Maplewood's store in Berlin. Lawrence matched five numbers in last Tuesday's drawing, but also added the Megaplier option, which quadrupled the prize to a million dollars.
Lawrence claimed his winnings Monday. He told officials he's been buying lottery tickets for 35 years and finally hit the jackpot.
